2025/26 Cross Country Handicap Competition Standings

That's right, it's back for another year. Remember that your best 4 results will count overall, so if you've missed a round (which many people have), then all is not lost, and you may still win the coveted shield. Other than that, the usual explanation applies, in that this is a handicap competition, so you are rated against last year's performances, and the most improved should win. If you didn't take part last year, a handicap figure is assigned, and this is hopefully chosen so as to keep people interested, but no one should win thanks to an arbitrarily decided handicap.

The numbers looked to be down overall for this rearranged fixture, but the ERR men managed a pretty decent turnout, so will see how that translates into league standings. The ERR ladies 'team' consisted of Katherine, who put in an excellent performance to be 2nd LV60.

A pretty decent ERR turnout for this rearranged fixture, in what were rather cooler conditions than would normally be the case. Well done to Robert for his category win, and to Kate, John and Katherine for their placings. Tom and Toby played their jokers, but let me know if anyone else did.

Cornbury Cross Country Results

A reversed, and less muddy, course at Cornbury for the opening fixture of the 2025/26 season, although it was still hard enough, thank you very much. Well done to all the ERRs who turned out, including debutants Ian and Jason, who both claimed to have enjoyed it. A special mention to Laura for her category 'prize' in a competitive field. Here are the individual positions. It's probably best not to ask about the team standings.

Frieth Hilly 10k Results

With the late fixture rearrangement it was always going to be a select band of ERRs at this race, but hopefully it won't be the last time we visit this friendly, scenic and, yes, hilly event. Well done to Robert and Katherine for their category wins (did they award prizes) and also to Robert for breaking the club MV60 record, although I suspect he may well improve on that time at another course.

ERR Handicap Race 2025 Results

Thanks to everyone who turned up, either to run or help out, and congratulations to Richard, who walked off with the Biggest Trophy in World Sport. The full results, in terms of everyone's performance vs their handicap, are below. Many thanks to Jane Garton for making sense of the timings, which got a bit chaotic on the night, due to so many people finishing in such a short space of time. I suppose that's how a handicap race should be....
