Remember that your best 4 results will count overall, so if you've missed a round (which many people have), then all is not lost, and you may still win the coveted shield. Other than that, the usual explanation applies, in that this is a handicap competition, so you are rated against last year's performances, and the most improved should win. If you didn't take part last year, a handicap figure is assigned, and this is hopefully chosen so as to keep people interested, but no one should win thanks to an arbitrarily decided handicap. With the late fixture rearrangement it was always going to be a select band of ERRs at this race, but hopefully it won't be the last time we visit this friendly, scenic and, yes, hilly event.
