A smallish ERR gathering at Finstock meant that it should have been a day for jokers, even if it wasn’t.
Well done to Robert for finishing 3rd overall, to Jacky for winning the LV45 category, and to Jacky, Tara and Olga for winning the ladies’ team prize.
Mark won the wine and, in a break from recent tradition, has written a report, which follows the results.

The fixtures committee, in their infinite wisdom, like to mix things up a little. The Finstock 10k is a local, multi-terrain romp around Cornbury Park, with a goody bag, all for just a tenner – what’s not to like? Graham and Arthur chose to make it even more ‘interesting’ by running there too, just to get a cheeky 15 mile warm up in. And with the Indian summer at its zenith, they looked pretty cooked by the time they joined the merry throng of blue at the ‘athletes’ village’.
Needless to say, those of us who had journeyed by more conventional means benefitted from our fresh(er) legs. As ever Robert led the club home, and third overall to boot. Jacky won her category and earned maximum long league points for her efforts. Chris and Tara took the short league honours, and as third ERR lady, Olga helped win the ladies’ team prize. Mark C was kicking himself at the finish for not playing his joker, as Graham and Arthur clocked up their marathon training miles.
Surrounded by local fauna (mainly herds of deer, though Tyrell was also glimpsed running free) the Finstock 10k lived up to its billing as a rolling 10k in a lovely environment. And the modest club turnout made it easier to pick up some points, and win the wine. Cheers!
