Blenheim Half/10k Results

Another decidedly limited ERR turnout for a Blenheim race (must make a note for next year’s fixtures), which at least meant an excellent time for John to play his joker.
Rachel and Claire weren’t in club colours, so a belated welcome back to the jobsworth hat.
John won the wine (again), which Jane may or may not have drunk. Anyway, his report follows the results.

Blenheim Half and 10k – a stroll in the park?
I entered the long-league this year…simply to run more miles. Blimey, if you lot keep on not turning up I might just go and win it.
2nd in a two-man race was great result, more than I could have hoped for based on this summer’s mileage (0). Graham won our men’s race with me about 20 fat minutes behind him. Denise and Kate represented the ladies, and Denise came in a slim 4 seconds behind the old man (Graham, not Derek). Kate, as regal and majestic as ever, very nearly didn’t finish. As she rounded the Palace on the first lap, a horse-drawn carriage pulled up alongside her and royal footmen tried to take her in for afternoon tea with the Duke.
The 10k race also saw an over-whelming turn-out, with 4 in the running. Marisa took a magnificent victory, on a lovely sunny day, in beautiful surroundings, with a great crowd and smart T-shirts.
Mrs B (my Mrs B, Derek) came in 4 minutes behind. A smashing race; well-organised with great support in and around the Palace, Park and villages, notably in Coombe – thanks to Graham, Jane, The Real Mrs B and Mark Tyrrell (thanks for the watch Mark – the women alongside me were amazed at your loyalty. Beer in the post).
See you all at Tadley. Well, to be honest I’d rather not see the men’s long-league leaders. I can smell 2nd and almost taste 1st!
