ERR Breakfast Run Report by Rain Newton-Smith
ERR Breakfast Run, by Rain Newton-Smith
It was a perfect morning for the breakfast run with the sun lighting up the frost-covered hills of Wytham Woods. Almost 40 runners gathered at the bottom of the endless hill up Wytham Woods.
Hannah and Tristan stopped us all for a photo and the news that there were moving to Germany for awhile with Siemens Healthineers. It was a chance to thank the roadrunners, for Hannah and Tristan, for bringing them together and all the friendships it had brought. A moment to reflect on the community of the RoadRunners in all of our lives. Best of luck with your time in Germany, Hannah and Tristan – we will miss you but we know you’ll be back, and another reason to visit the continent!
A quick start and then it was up that never-ending hill before veering off towards the Botley Gate and then back down through the Sheep Field and then up the other never-ending hill to the Chalet and thankfully back down hill to finish near Siemens.
As usual, Robert, Mark and Dafydd & David made it look easy, with Hannah, Kate and Katherine not far behind. The rest of us mere mortals actually looked like we were trying, and the hills were taking their toll, which of course, they were! Rachael, typified the spirit of the club by running back down the big hill to shepherd me back up! She definitely deserves extra handicap points.
Then it was off to the pub for a hearty breakfast. Well-deserved by all!
